Thank you to everyone who joining us at our first of the year event. We hoped to reflect and reset in this meeting and feel we accomplished that. We got some great feedback and look forward to bringing you great content and more!

We asked attendees to tell us what they would be interested in the coming year and generated a word cloud. Many votes for Kubernetes, specifically wanting to hear more stories about Kubernetes implementation and container mgmt. We have a big demand for topics on security, continuous integration and deployment, gitops, and the cloud.

Word cloud diagram. Kubernetes, ci/cd, gitops, proxying, serverless, iac, frameworks, lambda, containerization, response, sidecards, iac, supply chain, cloud, culture, fun, security, software development

Also, many people voted for FUN. DevOps is not just about the tools but also the culture of breaking down silos in organizations and cross-promoting knowledge. Not only do we want to make the experience of attending a virtual meetup fun, but we want to share stories about cultural shifts that making working in tech if not fun, at least less painful.

We had 23 attendees participate in our recap of 2021, with most folks having over 10 years of experience in tech and having had attend DevOps DC meetups in the past. But we also had quite a few folks for the very first time, including people who are relatively new to the tech industry

Pivot table breakdown of attendees by percentage (18% had 1–6 mo xp and was their first meetup, 27% had 10+ years xp and was first meetup, 55% had 10+ and was not their first meetup.
